We Don't Graduate From Growing Up in Life or Faith Parish News for Thursday, 8/27/20
A VIDEO MESSAGE FROM FR. DAVE
Now that you've watched, consider these questions:
When we received the Sacrament of Confirmation in our youth, it may have seemed like a “graduation” from our faith formation years, but really it just marked the
of our own responsibility
in continuing on your faith journey to heaven. How have you continued to develop your own faith life since then?
Have you learned a lot of head knowledge, but still long for more intimate understanding of our faith and of Jesus? Do you long for kinship with other like-minded individuals?
Since it’s back to school season – and not just for our youth, but for all of us – which of our fall faith formation programs have you heard about that you might consider taking?
There’s no better time given that many of the programs are offered both in-person and online. Many more offerings will be promoted in the coming weeks.
Got something to share from meditating on these questions and watching the video?
We'd love to hear from you! Just hit reply to this email.
Bring a dish to share and BYOB/BYOM (Bring your own mask). Come and engage in a powerful reflection on the life and ministry of Jesus. Hope to see you there!

ADORATION/PRAISE & WORSHIP/RECONCILIATION & PRAYER MINISTRY
Join us Thursday, September 3, from 7 - 8p in the Church as we worship our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Priests will be available for Reconciliation and our Prayer teams are available for Prayers.
Father David Sizemore will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph A. Lebold (B/D 11-29-55 and D/D 8-22-20) on
Saturday, August 29, 2020, 10:30a
at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery will immediately follow Mass. Reed Egan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There are no calling hours. Please pray for Joe’s soul as well as his family and friends.
The 2019-2020 school was one to be proud of for SPICE (Special People in Catholic Education). It was a year of firsts including coming together as a unified team of Licking County Catholic schools and hiring staff for all 3 schools. We have worked with over 130 students and provided tutoring for students in need of help to pass the End of Course Exams. We have applied for and received grants and hired an Educational Advocate. During COVID, SPICE staff reached out to families in need and provided resources that helped them through difficult times. Perhaps we are most proud of our newly designated Jon Peterson Provider Status at St. Francis de Sales. We ended the 2019-2020 school year with hearts filled with gratitude. We learned more than we taught and got more than we gave. We are preparing for the 2020-2021 school year to share God’s love through our time and talents and to further support our Principals and students in Licking County Catholic Schools. Please email Lianna Capretta at LCapretta@stfrancisparish.net with any questions, ideas, or resources!

BISHOP'S ANNUAL APPEAL
We are over halfway to our goal! “Living the Joy of the Gospel,” inspires us, as people of faith, to share joyfully the Good News of Christ to those who most need to feel His love as we continue His work on earth as faithful disciples. By contributing to the BAA, we make possible the many programs and ministries that impact so many of our brothers and sisters to such a positive end.
Please, if you can, be generous to this year’s appeal to help us meet our goal so that we can support others the way that we have been supported. Remember any amount you give over the goal will come directly back to our parish.
Ways to Give:
• Call the parish office and we will mail a pledge form to you.
• Pick up a pledge form by the entrances at Mass.
• Mail your pledge form directly to the Diocese of Columbus, drop it by the office, or drop it in the collection plate.
• To make an contactless pledge please go to:
. Here you will find a link for a pledge with recurring payments and a link for a one time donation.
PASSING THE VIRTUAL OFFERTORY BASKET
We really need everyone to make an ongoing pledge to support our mission. Electronic giving is currently the most consistent way to give, safest and most reliable. Will you consider how you can help us during this time?
Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
MOST RECOMMENDED -
For reoccurring gifts, you can set up automatic debit to one’s bank account or charges to one’s credit card. Please fill out this

. You may use this link as often as you like.
Another option is through our new TEXT-to-GIVE number. Donate simply by texting SFDS to 740.240.6093. You can also use this in place of your normal offertory basket giving.
If you would like to continue using your envelopes, please mail your contribution into the parish office at 40 Granville Street, Newark, OH 43055. Checks are preferred as cash is not a safe or secure way to fulfill your offertory through the mail.
